I Simpson
(in inglese The Simpsons) è una popolare sitcom animata creata dal fumettista statunitense Matt Groening a fine degli
anni ottanta per la Fox Broadcasting Company. È una parodia satirica della società e dello stile di vita
statunitensi, personificati dalla famiglia protagonista, di cui fanno parte Homer, Marge e i loro tre figli Bart, Lisa e
Maggie.

Ambientato in una cittadina statunitense chiamata Springfield, lo show tratta in chiave umoristica
molti aspetti della condizione umana, così come la cultura, la società in generale e la stessa televisione.

La famiglia fu ideata da Matt Groening e James L. Brooks in una serie di corti animati di un minuto, da mandare
in onda durante il Tracey Ullman Show. La loro prima apparizione nel talk show si ebbe il 19 aprile 1987 in un corto
intitolato Good Night. Da quel momento, per due anni, I Simpson andarono in onda durante gli intermezzi pubblicitari
dello show ottenendo un buon successo. Lo show debuttò sotto forma di episodi di mezz'ora in prima serata il 17
dicembre 1989.

I Simpson fu subito uno show di punta della FOX, grande casa produttrice di film; nel corso
degli anni ha vinto numerosi e importanti premi televisivi.Il numero del magazine Time del 31 dicembre 1999 lo ha
acclamato come "miglior serie televisiva del secolo".Il 14 gennaio 2000 lo show ha ottenuto una stella nella Hollywood
Walk of Fame. È, a tutt'oggi, la più lunga sitcom e serie animata statunitense mai trasmessa. Come prova
dell'influenza che lo show ha avuto nella cultura popolare, l'esclamazione contrariata di Homer Simpson, "D'oh!", è
stata introdotta nell'Oxford English Dictionary. I Simpson hanno inoltre influenzato diverse altre serie animate per
adulti prodotte da metà anni novanta in poi. Nel 2002, la rivista TV Guide ha classificato I Simpson all'8º posto
tra I migliori 50 spettacoli televisivi di tutti i tempi, miglior posizione tra le serie animate.

presenti ne I Simpson, non presenti nel precedente Songs in the Key of Springfield, o composte dopo la pubblicazione
dell'album.Non mancano anche in questa seconda raccolta gli ospiti illustri: i Ramones si cimentano con un divertente
"Happy birthday Mr.Burns", i Sonic Youth reinventano i titoli di coda - di cui c'è anche una versione del "Jazz
Quartet" - e sempre il signor Burns è al centro di una canzone eseguita da Tito Puente, "Senor Burns". C'è poi una
versione dei titoli di coda alla Philip Glass, uno pseudo inno americano eseguito da Daryl L. Coley e un "Happy
birthday, Mr.Smithers" che fa il verso al celebre "Happy birthday Mr.President", con Burns nei panni di Marilyn e

resa disponibile il 31 luglio 2007. La colonna sonora è stata composta da Hans Zimmer, che stava lavorando
contemporaneamente alla colonna sonora di Pirati dei Caraibi - Ai confini del mondo. Zimmer dichiarò a The Hollywood
Reporter che gli piaceva "usare tutta il suo succo creativo in una volta sola".Oltre a comparire nel film, i Green Day
hanno registrato una propria versione di The Simpsons Theme, pubblicata successivamente come singolo, ma non inclusa
nell'album.Spider Pig pubblicata come singolo ha raggiunto la ventitreesima posizione della classifica dei singoli
britannica, scalando ottantatré posizioni in una settimana.Spider Pig ha anche raggiunto la terza posizione in
